14 million students of the country have not been getting primary education stipend for six months. No one can say when they will get this money. Parents say they would have benefited greatly if they had received stipends during the corona virus disaster.

Allegedly, the crisis was created because the officials of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education and the stipend project did not take effective steps in time. However, they say the project, which ended in December, has caused some complications. Now the process of extending the duration of the project is also stalled due to corona virus.

The project director said. Yusuf Ali told Prothom Alo that a proposal has been made to the government to extend the project with special measures, citing social security issues during the crisis.

They hope that the project will be extended soon through a special meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).Then the students will also get the money due.Students have not received stipend for six months. The crisis is exacerbated by the coronavirus. Parents want money during disasters.

The government provides stipends to students for the expansion and improvement of primary education. The stipend is disbursed through a stipend scheme under the Department of Primary Education under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. After giving the stipend, the dropout rate in primary has decreased in the country. About 14 million students are benefiting from the stipend. Students are given stipends ranging from Tk 50 to Tk 300 (families of four students) depending on the class. The money is sent through mobile banking as it is open in the name of the mothers of the students. This money is given in four installments every year for three months. The headmaster of a government primary school in Dhaka said that the parents repeatedly searched for him as they did not get the stipend money. He said in the first light, most of those who study in government primary schools in Dhaka are poor. If they got stipend money at this time, maybe they would get some help.

Secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education. Akram-al-Hussein told Prothom Alo that when they proposed to the finance ministry to pay one installment (three months) of the completed project, they said that since the project was completed, the money could not be released.Trying again now.
